Rick Garcia is a native of Miami, Florida. Born to Cuban parents, Rick grew up in a home where Cuba was a daily topic of interest and Spanish was his first language.
As a young artist, his most profound influence came from the Spanish painter, Salvador Dali. Garcia’s work in surrealism further developed when he attended art school. Over this course of his career, his paintings have been sought after by corporations as well as private collectors, including the United Nations, Grammy Awards, Kentucky Derby and others.
With a strong desire to get connected to his Cuban heritage, his recent work has turned towards capturing the unique blend of Cuba’s past and present by mixing images of Cuba’s nostalgic era with a pop contemporary look. For Rick, Cuba offers endless inspiration from the sounds, textures, cars, colors, architecture, and people... all drenched in the tropical Cuban sunlight.
